Assay Analyst

Responsibilities

• Assist the Shift Analyst / Shift Chemist to monitor and ensure that all procedures regarding sample preparation and sample assaying are executed correctly, safely, and efficiently by the laboratory crew.
• Independently operate advanced analytical instruments—specifically the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS)—to thoroughly analyze and determine the exact elemental content within mineral samples.
• Carefully compile and prepare comprehensive draft reports of sample analysis results obtained directly from the analytical instruments for further verification.
• Oversee laboratory supplies to ensure that all necessary chemicals, reagents, and operating consumables are continuously available, safely stored, and adequately stocked for uninterrupted daily operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or other related scientific fields.
• Minimum of 1 (one) year of professional experience working in a mineral assay laboratory environment.
• Possess comprehensive knowledge of mineral assay techniques and technical laboratory instrumentation.
• Proven ability to operate an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), with a strong preference for candidates experienced with the Agilent AA-55 instrument.
• Must be a fast learner, highly diligent, detail-oriented, and demonstrate effective team leadership capabilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
